StorytellerWelcome current and prospective Storytellers! BookJr strongly believes that children need caring adults to read to them. The children are our future and without a strong foundation in reading, our future will not be bright. Storytellers deliver real value to children and their parents by making reading fun and enjoyable!
What does a Storyteller do? Storytellers setup story time events in their own home or someone else's home for their respective bookjr club. They invite parents and their children to attend the event and ensure they are signed up for the bookjr club. At the event, they read the book of the month to the children, and may choose a few other books to read as well. After reading the book they facilitate a discussion with the children about the book. Storytellers ensure that each event is enjoyable and fun! How do Storytellers get compensated? Storytellers are given a percentage of the proceeds from the bookjr club membership fees and any books bought by their bookjr club members. Each Storyteller will be given an ID that must be used when signing up bookjr club members in order for them to be compensated. Checks are distributed the first 5 days of each month if they are over $15 dollars. At the end of each year, all accounts will be paid out any remaining balance. How do I become a Storyteller? Storytellers must fill out the application below and must pass a background check. If the application is approved then an email will be sent with your Storyteller ID and training packet. After reading through the training packet, you can begin to setup your bookjr club in your local community. Remember, reading is meant to be fun and our goal is to help children find a love for reading! |
